Dog Collar Leash

How do I get my 1 1/2 year old dog to end his fear of a collar and leash?
He’s a black lab and once we get out to walking he’s fine, but everytime he sees a collar or leash I have to chase him down to take him for a walk. I’ve tried giving him treats and praising him, but he still goes nuts. Then when we finish the walk, he rolls on the floor trying to get the collar off. What should I do?
You can try getting a harness from a pet store. This goes around the dog’s stomach, back, and shoulders and doesn’t pull on the neck. They make different kinds.
This kind looks a lot like a leash and collar, so your dog may still be afraid of it.

This kind is a vest and doesn’t look like leash or collar at all. He may be more willing to put it on not knowing its a collar.

Maybe he doesn’t like the collar because when he’s walking it chokes him. I have a small maltese and I got her a harness because she didn’t like her collar. The harness is much more comfortable and she loves going on walks.
