Medium Dogs

What is a medium- large dog breed that is good with other, smaller dogs?
We have a very small yorkie (about 3lbs) and we would like to get another, bigger dog. We have been thinking about either a border collie or a chocolate lab. I am worried about putting them together because I don’t want my yorkie to get hurt or feel threatened in anyway. suggestions on other breeds of dogs or tips would be well appreciated
I would avoid a collie, they are great dogs and a wonderful breed but they are designed to run animals around and demand the herd go along with their designs. Honestly the best advice I can give is to go to an animal shelter and try to adopt an adult dog- most of the time shelters such as dumb friends league will have done behavior tests to see if they are dog agressive or food agressive. They will also allow you to bring in your existing dog and have both dogs meet under your and the adoption coordinator’s watchful eye to see if there is anything to be wary of. An adult dog will also (usually) be less high energy so they won’t run over a smaller dog and have established personalities so they will be more likely to behave in predictable patterns. Be patient, take your time and consider a medium sized mutt that has a nice temperment and is in desperate need of a home.
